Hi, I'm Brett McKinney. Known in some circles as Malo Sixkiller. I am an American musician hailing from the Phoenix, Arizona area. I began my journey in the beautiful Redwood forests of Humboldt County, California. For the last 20 years I have made Arizona my home; where I work as a Software Developer by day, and musician by night. My primary music of choice is heavy metal. I am currently involved in several projects, ranging from soft rock/folk, to thrash metal. My primary bands are Malo De Dentro and Empire of Dezire.
Outside of music, I love three things: My family, my cats, and golfing. I've been with my beautiful wife since we were just kids. We've built a great life in the desert with our two boys, and our fur children. I'm a fanatic for cats. I couldn't imagine life without these wonderful animals! On weekends, I enjoy punishing myself at the golf course. I love to be outside, which probably explains why I like golf, hiking and hunting.

I've always been excited about technology. From the very first piece of computer technology I received, I was locked in. I've always liked to 'tinker' with things and try to figure them out. My original aspiration was to become an electrical engineer. But my needs to create were better fulfilled with software development. I started by learning BASIC programming. I expanded upon this by venturing into C++, VB, Java and C#. Today I manage a team of developers for a great organization.
Born with the music inside me
Since I was but a wee lad, I have always banged on things and made noise. My parents were very gracious in allow us to learn instruments and explore our creative side. I started with brass instruments; the trumpet and the baritone. I loved playing these, but my passion was always rooting in percussion. At the age of 12, I got my first drum set. From that moment on, I was hooked. The rest is history.
